For years Stacy has been traveling to Europe armed only with a sketchbook, ink pen and a small travel watercolor kit. There she does sketches and takes photos as reference material so that once she returns to her studio, she can recreate these visual ideas in a larger format, and all done while traveling light.
Now that she has her process down to a science, she can share her supplies and ways of working so that you too can respond artistically to your surroundings even when you travel. She will do demonstrations to explain her process as well as help you transform provided reference material into paintings of your own.
In this class you will learn how to compose a painting from sketches and pictures, as well as how to decide what information is relevant to include. This class will focus on creating a unique painting inspired by Stacy’s own beautiful sketches and photos. if time permits, she will help students decide what reference material would make a beautiful painting of their own and perhaps start that painting. But regardless of time, Stacy will guide students on how to use their reference material to create unique compositions once they’ve returned to their own studios.
